> [!map] About > This map shows the current (and developing) claims and positions I use in my writing. While my intent is for [[About me|my]] writing here to reflect my honest growth & thought as it changes over time, where I'm starting from is grounded in some central positions. Some of these I've cleanly been able articulate for a little while now, others have revealed themselves to me as I've worked on these ideas, and some will inevitably emerge somewhere in the foggy future. I'm almost certain more than one will shift and take on a slightly new shape as I go along - in fact I really hope they will! Below, I've organized these into loose categories and will reference them elsewhere if it seems worthwhile. > [!command] ## Technology & Values > --- > #### **[[Technology should amplify human capacity for wisdom, connection, and flourishing.]]** > *Not optimization for its own sake; but amplification of what makes us human.* > > --- > #### **[[Systems are not neutral; every technical choice shapes what can be expressed.]]** > *Design encodes philosophy. Tool choice = values choice.* > [!anchor] ## Knowledge Systems > --- > #### **[[Organizations fail when they build technical capability before semantic clarity.]]** > *Shared meaning first, then systems.* > > --- > #### **[[Knowledge fragmentation is solved by semantic bridges, not just tool consolidation or acquisition.]]** > *The problem isn't the tool, or tool sprawl; it's lack of connections.* > > --- > #### **[[Metadata enables discovery; natural language enables understanding; both required.]]** > *Most systems optimize for one, lose the other. Need both.* > [[Metadata]] should be ethical. > > --- > #### [[Knowledge is personal and political; there is no objective enablement.]] > *All enablement choices embed values; teaching tools is never neutral.* > [!user] ## Human Judgment & Wisdom > --- > #### **[[Data fluency is developmental, not binary; it cannot be mandated.]]** > *You can't train fluency like you train literacy.* > [[Those who are fluent operate on a culturally different level than those who are simply literate.]] > > --- > #### [[Hesitation is often valuable signal, not resistance to overcome.]] > *Users pausing reveal what's missing.
